CrossFit Unknown’s Christmas Party will be Monday 12/17 @ 5 pm! Mark it on your calendars!
We play around with the Sumo Deadlift every now and then. Today is another day we get to have some fun with it. As most of you know, we don’t do nearly as many sumo deadlifts as we do conventional or “normal” deadlifts. The reason being is because sumo deadlifts are used as accessory to the normal deadlifts. Now when it comes to power lifting, yes they might use normal or sumo depending on where they pull the most weight. For us, we always use the normal deadlift for workouts and for strength ladders so that’s why we do the normal more than sumo.
Now some of you might sumo more than you pull normal, or some of you might pull less with the sumo. Just remember that it is an accessory, it doesn’t matter too much. Some people pull better than way just because of their limb and torso length. So just find something heavy and don’t stress about the weight too much.
Now since we don’t play around with this movement a lot I encourage you watch the video. Granted it’s a bit long but the first 10 minutes or so give you a good chunk of details. There is some good cues and tips in here to help you so it doesn’t feel as weird since we don’t do them all the time.
